Molecules interacting with potassium channels

Specificity of interactions of K channels molecules. The graph shows how these molecules hit on all proteins with experimental records in ChEMBL DB. Colors by molecular cluster.

seeProteinNames

Three molecular clusters (939, 2744, 6191) hit specifically on the KCNA1, KCNA3 & KCNA5 shaker family channels.

Nifedipie, verapamil, clotrimazole, diphenoxylate, sertindole and bergapten show less specific interactions.

See below structures of these compounds

Other clusters also show specific interactions with other potassium channels: ClID_238 for KCNQ1 (Kv7.1, the deafness channel); ClIDs 1654, 1940 and 5091 for the inward rectifiers KCNJ3 &5; ClID_532 and others  for the small conductance calcium activated potassium channel KCNN3 (SK3); ClID_2559 for the brain KCNH3 potassium channel.

See structures below

Not many compounds and not really specific interactions, but it is worth to highlight that all drugs that inhibit KCNK2 have documented actiovity inhibiting SARS-Cov2.
